Code of Conduct

Tawdry Toolbox pledges to create a safer, inclusive, respectful production that allows artists to thrive without the threat of harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination, or violence.

Harassment may include but is not limited to unwanted attention (including sexual attention), inappropriate jokes or texts, non-consensual behavior including photos or recordings taken without prior consent, or other unwelcome communication or conduct.

Tawdry Toolbox has zero tolerance for racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or other discriminatory language or behavior on stage or off. In addition:

  • Consent is mandatory and extends beyond physical touch and attention.
  • While we understand that the history of both burlesque and drag include contributions from many cultures, cultural appropriation is not acceptable.
  • Tawdry Toolbox may ask that performances be modified if any aspect poses a threat to audience members or fellow performers or crew (e.g. allergies), or contravenes venue rules (e.g. glitter)
  • Content warnings are required for any act that includes blood, knife or gun violence, abuse, self harm, eating disorders, strobe light use, or audience interaction.
  • Complaints should be directed to Page DeWolfe/Lusty Lugnuts (unless the complaint involves them in which case an alternate contact will be arranged for resolution of the issue)
  • Resolution of issues will be agreed to by all involved parties. If the severity of the issue requires it, appropriate authorities will be involved.
  • This code will be posted in the green room on performance night.
